Black and White Yosemite Photos

I don't profess to be any great Black and White photographer, but Yosemite's rock formations lend themselves nicely to the stark contrast of B & W photography. One tip I have about photography in Yosemite (whether you use color or Black and White film) is underexpose, at least a little. Give it a try. I have always found the California's bright sun "washes out" my pictures when I set my camera's light meter exactly at the film's speed. I get a far more accurate photo when I underexpose my photos a stop or two (or even three!).

The Famous Chapel of Yosemite Valley.

Many a wedding has been performed in this Chapel. It greets you as you arrive in Yosemite Valley, from the 41 highway. On the other side of the highway is a wonderful view of Yosemite Falls.

One of my favorite Black and White Yosemite Pictures. I got this picture on a rather overcast and gloomy day in March. In many places, this would have rendered my pictures rather plain and depressing. But, with Yosemite, it is always stunning, and just shows different "faces" of it's beauty, depending on the weather, and season.
