Ron Prescott's Yosemite

Yosemite Photos by Ron Prescott

In 1999, I got an email from one of the visitors to this Yosemite page.   His name is Ron Prescott, a Santa Barbara native who is currently a Marine, stationed in Hawaii.   He had some Yosemite photos he had taken that he felt "deserved consideration."  He lamented that they were just sitting in a cardboard box.  After seeing his photos, I tended to agree!    His photos are absolutely lovely, and should be shared.   He wrote to me:  "Yosemite changed my life, and I just hope someone holds that place as much in their heart as I do.   I would just like other people to appreciate these photos also..."

Ron wasn't interested at this time in putting up his own web page, so I agreed to put his fabulous photos up on mine.  I think he has a wonderful photographic "eye," and I know you will enjoy his pictures.   I have added Ron's comments on each photo along side it's thumbnail image.

Yosemite pools"Taken at the base of Yosemite Falls, in the fall of '96. The falls dried up, and I climbed up to them, getting this mirror reflection towards Glacier Point."

Near Yosemite Lodge "This one was taken in the meadows behind the Yosemite Lodge. The dry meadow and the Fall trees in the background caught my eye, and my attention."

Merced River Reflections"Photo taken of the Merced River from the Swinging Bridge.  It seems like most all of my photos are mirror images in water.   I guess I just realized that."

Mild Winter and Half Dome"I seem to want to call this one 'Mild Winter'.   It was the beginning of Winter '95, not too much snow, but enough to cover Half Dome on a daily basis.  Taken from the shores of the Merced River."

Merced River Reflections II

"This photo is of the Merced River at sunset, taken from the "Swinging Bridge".

Tuolumne Meadows

"This is a photo simply of some sunlight through some trees.  Taken up in the Tuolumne Meadows in Springtime."

Reflections in water"This picture is a reflection of leaves in a pool of water near Yosemite Falls.   For some reason it just caught my attention."

About the Photographer:

I asked Ron to tell me a little bit about himself, and his feelings about Yosemite.  This is some of what he wrote:

"I moved to Yosemite in '95 to work as a guide at the Valley Stables.  After a few months I moved over to work with Security and a Firefighter.   I spent only a short time in the park, but I fell in love with that place.   I'm not sure how or what it was that had the life-changing effect on me.  By life-changing, I mean the fact that I miss being there every day of my life.  I was 19 when I was there, and being away for the last four years drives me crazy. Now I am just currently a 23 year old Marine stationed here in Hawaii, with quite a bit of world travels, just waiting to return."

Ron's email address at the time he sent me these pictures (1999) was: RP0811 AT aol.com. I do not know if this is still his email address.
