Other Nifty Places I have visited.

California Coast  Hwy 1 CoastHwy One and 101---California Coast

I traveled up the California Coast, mostly on Highway 101, but I did make a brief excursion on Highway 1.  It was rather overcast when I visited, but that lended a certain somber beauty all its own.  These pictures were taken near the Albion and the Ft. Bragg areas.  (North of San Francisco.)

Ferndale Main St.  Pretty Victorian House  Ferndale St.  White Ferndale House  Ferndale, CA

The little Victorian Village of Ferndale is up the 101, a few miles South of Eureka, in Northern California.  I fell in love with this little town over ten years ago, and I still keep coming back.  It is not a large place, and I not sure I would recommend anyone centering their vacation around it.  (In my experience, a day, or perhaps two, is all it takes to drink in all of Ferndale's beauty.)  But on your "tour" of Highway 101, do visit Ferndale!  There is a main street with lovely shops, and places to eat.  Even their public restroom has a Victorian look!  And most of the town's residential houses are Victorian.  I especially look forward to visiting the Bath and Body Works on Main Street, where I load up on some custom-scented shampoos and lotions scented with "Redwood Moss".   (My favorite!)  And, it is always a joy to visit the Hobart Galley, with these great and funky kinetic sculptures.  (And, usually, you will find the Hobart Gallery resident kitty lounging around!)

High Museum  Stone Mountain  Native GA Guide  Atlanta, GA

Yes, I actually do travel outside the State of California!   I spent a few days in Atlanta, Georgia.  I have visited Atlanta's High Museum of Art before, (it is an excellent museum) and this time when I went there, it was closed for the day.  (Bummer!)  I did get some nice shots of the exterior, though.   I also was able to see Stone Mountain, for the first time ever.  It is a carving of Confederate Generals in the side of the huge piece of granite, and is massive and spectacular.  One can go to the top of Stone Mountain via the "skylift", and look for quite a distance all around you.  It is a very nice view.  My "Native Georgia Guide" was quite a taskmaster, and made me walk all around the top of Stone Mountain. I have one bit of advice to anyone who does this.  It is not a arduous walk by any means, but it will be a lot nicer if you bring plenty of your own water, and wear good shoes!  There is a gift shop, visitor's center, and snack bar atop Stone Mountain, also.

In January 1999, I was invited by my friend Ryan to go on an extended weekend visit to Hawaii along with 17 of his friends.  Ryan had some money burning in his pocket, and he thought a nice trip to Hawaii would be fun!  So, off we went.   It was fabulous.  Since most of his friends are computer-geek types (one guy works for Microsoft in some way, even!) we have created web pages on the trip.   The first place to start is with a page I created, it has a link to Ryan's site, which has "sub pages" of other people's pictures.
