Yosemite '98
(Photos from
one of my visits to Yosemite.)

The Road leading
to the High Country, Yosemite Valley from the "Wawona Tunnel"
view, and some sun filtering through trees in Yosemite Valley.
Photos of one
of my trips to Yosemite National Park, (and also Catalina Island, and
many other fabulous sights in California.) This trip was in August, 1998.

Tuolumne Meadows,
Looking through trees in Yosemite Valley, and Redwoods in Yosemite.
My visit to Yosemite
that August was wonderful, as usual. The "High Country"
was accessable (the roads are cleared of snow in the Summer) and I was
able to see Tuolumne Meadows again. The sun was bright and the sky
so very blue. While the park was pretty crowded (it was August,
a busy month for Yosemite) I did not find the crowds unbearable by any
means.
My sister and
I were only able to stay for a few days, and we stayed at the Wawona Hotel,
the first time ever that we have stayed there. I have some nice
pictures of it, and it is truly a lovely hotel, with lots of atmostphere
and a fabulous setting. However, we got a rather dreary little room,
more like a "carpeted box". I think these "carpeted
box" rooms are in the minority at the Wawona, and I will make sure
that I do not stay in one next time!
We wandered around
Yosemite Valley, and went to the Mariposa Grove, and Mirror Lake.
I even did a watercolor there, which I will shortly be putting up on this
page. Even though it was August, there was enough water (because
of El Niöo) flowing down the waterfalls.

A view of
the front of the Wawona Hotel.

Beautiful,
very blue Tenaya Lake.

Another view
of Yosemite Valley from the Wawona Tunnel View.
That is my sister in the foreground, (and yes, she does have
purple hair!)

A fat
squirrel, mooching food from visitors. (This is not a good
thing---never give food to Yosemite's wildlife!)

The view when
you come out from the Wawona Tunnel (on Hwy. 41 from Fresno) is a
spectacular panorama of Yosemite Valley, with El Capitan and Half
Dome. But if you turn away and look behind you, you will see
how lovely the rocks and trees are.

In the hallway
outside of my room at the Wawona (second floor) I got this very pretty
picture of Wawona's grounds. You
will see why it is such a lovely place to lodge when you are visiting
the Park!

Another picture
of Tuolumne Meadows.
That's it for
now. To see my more recent Yosemite photo collection, (plus photos from
many past years) check out my the rest of this site, Bearclover.net!
(Please note:
If you want to copy any of my pictures on your hard drive, or keep them
for personal use, I am most pleased to share them. However, if you plan
to put them on a web page of your own, I respectfully request that you
e-mail me first. I will most
likely not have a problem with you publishing my pictures on your site,
as long as you give me credit and also add a link back to this page!)

Want to send
me some e-mail?
(Much
thanks to W. Thompson, for the design of my e-mail graphic!)
